Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority(GMDA) plan for a safe green commute is set to improve livability which in turn will give a boost to the city’s real estate .
GMDA has chalked out an ambitious plan to improve non- motorised transportation in the city as part of its Comprehensive Mobility Management Plan (CMMP) under this plan cycle tracks along 800km roads will come up in different phases. The plan is to connect all these cycle tracks covering more residential areas. The whole idea is to encourage residents to use green and safe mode of transport. GMDA is making Gurgaon pedestrian and cyclist friendly. This initiative will at least motivate people to cover short distances on bicycle or on foot. Proper measures will be taken to ensure that cycle tracks are not encroached. By next year GMDA plans to develop a 15km cycle track between Iffco Chowk and SPR at a cost of Rs 12.9 crore. There is also a plan to develop a cycle track on the Sohna Road between NH48 and Vatika Chowk. As part of the comprehensive mobility, along with cycle tracks, footpaths with proper street lighting will also be developed.
Says Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder & Chairman Signature Global and Chairman, Assocham National Council on Real Estate & Housing, “Today, smart cities need smart mobility solutions. Cycle tracks promote green and safe mobility and people can make use of these dedicated tracks for both commuting for work and leisure. In the post-covid times when there is so much focus on sustainability, this non- motorised mobility plan will help boost Gurgaon’s real estate”.
