The continuous push by the Centre to flagship Pradhan Mantri Awas
Yojana (PMAY)- Urban , especially the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme component of the PMAY , has worked well to boost the supply of affordable housing. According to the latest statistics of Ministry of Housing & Urban
Affairs, interest subsidy of over 12000 crore has been disbursed to home buyers till March 2019. PMAY has four components- CLSS, InSitu Slum Redevelopment, Affordable Housing in Partnership and Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) under whichHousing Ministry provides central assistance to beneficiaries to construct their own house. Between 2014-18, a total of 1.53 crore houses have been constructed under PMAY-Urban. To further boost supply, Housing Ministry is promoting innovative technologies which are adaptable, sustainable, low cost and can be used for creating large scale affordable housing at rapid pace.
