Two new smart multi-level parking (MLP) facilities , planned by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority ( GMDA) will considerably increase parking capacity in the City Centre area, improving mobility in the city.
GMDA has planned the new parking facilities at strategic locations in the Sector 29 City Centre area. These parking lots will come up near Iffco Chowk metro station and near Kingdom of Dreams. Together, these two MLPs will be able to house over 2500 cars. These are in addition to two other MLP facilities coming up in Old Gurgaon at Sadar Bazar and Kaman Sarai area. These MLP facilities will be built on, operate and transfer systems. GMDA is working to introduce a sensor-based parking management and guidance system . Under this system parking slots can be booked through mobile app and payment to be done by card or FASTag The construction of these MLPs will begin early next year and these will become operational in 2023. Shopping malls, restaurants and service centres may come up near these parking facilities as 30% of the built up area has been reserved for commercial use. Electric vehicle charging stations may also be included.
Says Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Chairman, Signature Global and Chairman, Assocham Council on Real Estate , Housing & Urban Development, ” Gurgaon residents have been facing the serious problem of lack of designated parking places, making commuting difficult for the residents due to roadside parking. GMDAs plan to build smart multi-storey parking lots will ease parking and commuting within the city and to Delhi, easier. This will in turn enhance the attractiveness of Gurgaon not just as a real estate destination but also as a corporate and employment centre”.
