A new rail corridor under serious consideration by the Ministry of Railways along the 1250 km long Delhi- Mumbai greenfield expressway , may well provide a big connectivity boost to Gurgaon real estate, particularly affordable housing in Gurgaon..
Rail corridor plan
The Railways Ministry is keen to go ahead with this cost- effective rail corridor plan as it does not need to acquire any new land for it. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is already acquiring land with 100 metres right of way to build the 1250 km long Delhi- Mumbai Expressway. The proposed rail corridor will run parallel to Delhi- Mumbai Expressway that will pass through Gurgaon, Alwar, Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara to reach Mumbai. It will subsume Delhi- Vadodara eway and is expected to be operational by 2023,
Says Pradeep Aggarwal, Chairman, Assocham National Council on Real Estate, Housing and Urban Development and Founder and Chairman, Signature Global Group, ” This is a viable proposal by the Railways Ministry. It will be both time and cost effective proposal as the Railways Ministry will not have to go through the cumbersome , costly and time consuming process of land acquisition. As the proposed rail corridor will pass through Gurgaon and Manesar, it will provide a big connectivity push to affordable housing projects in New Gurgaon along NH 48.
