The new policy drafted by the DTCP to set up women’s hostels in Haryana, will help boost realty, especially in NCR cities like Gurgaon.
As per this proposed policy, the Department of Town & Country Planning (DTCP) will invite private builders to develop hostels for women. The policy has been drafted to meet the housing needs of consistently increasing women workforce. These hostels will be set up in different cities in the state. These will especially cater to the growing need for such accommodation in NCR cities of Gurgaon, Faridabad, Karnal, Panipat . The idea is to provide quality and secure accommodation to working women in urban areas. It will fulfill the basic needs of working women like dining, laundry, common room with indoor facilities and day care centre for young children. The draft rules allow private developers to set up women’s hostels over 0.5 acre to 2 acre area. As per the relaxed norms, the maximum floor area ratio of 225 will be provided. The ground coverage of 50% will be allowed for such projects.
Says Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder & Chairman, Signature Global and Chairman, Assocham National Council on Real Estate, Housing & Urban Development, “This policy for working women’s hostels, follows Haryana government’s recently announced policy for setting up Retirement Homes. These retirement homes will be a hostel facility for senior citizens on the lines of one proposed for working women. This policy for women’s hostels is yet to take a final shape, with suggestions from the real estate sector. There is a good demand for working women’s hostels in NCR Haryana. Any incentivised policy in this regard should get a good response from private developers. This in turn, will help boost real estate in the NCR cities of Haryana like high potential city of Gurgaon.
