Basis a source, the Indian railways is soon going to provide affordable houses and is at the outset to begin work at some of the selected railway stations. The affordable houses will be constructed by the IRSDC (Indian Railway Station Development Corporation) which is basically in charge for redevelopment of the railway stations. Around 20-30 per cent of the land will be snapped up by IRSDC where it will be carrying out the redevelopment work.
The main motive behind this initiative is to actually come up with house which actually benefits the people moving from the rural and remote areas to work in cities. This exercise will also have immense facilities in terms of transportation. Houses ranging between the areas of 40 to 60 square meters are likely to be constructed under the affordable housing scheme and the majority of the units will either be Studio apartments or 1-BHK units.
Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder and Chairman, Signature Global says, “We are really contended to see the initiatives being taken up by different institutions to join in PMAYs motive of providing housing for all by 2022. The step taken by the IRSDC to provide homes for the people moving to cities from the rural areas to find work will be of great help to the people from LIG (Lower Income Group) thereby providing them with a place for shelter.”
