Finally, the stage seems to be set for the extension of Gurugram Metro fromNew Gurugram to Old Gurugram which will provide further boost to real estate development in this high potential city of NCR.
The all important Metro extension has been held back for a long time. But according to Sudhir Rajpal, CEO, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), the proposal for this metro link is set to get a nod from the Centre within a quarter. This will follow the approval from the Institute for Transport Studies. In the next financial year, the whole process for the HUDA City Centre -Old Gurgaon Metro link will get intensified, leading to the start of work. It was in August 2020 that the Haryana government had cleared the final DPR of this metro link at a projected cost of Rs 6900 crore. This 29 km corridor consists of 27 elevated stations with 6 interchange stations. The new metro route will cover Sector 45, 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, 72A, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Ph 6, Sector 10, 37, Basai, Sector 9, 7, 4, 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Palam Vihar , Sector 23 A, 22, Udyog Vihar Ph4 &5 and finally merging in existing metro network of Rapid Metro at Moulsari Avenue, near Cyber City. It will interchange with MRTS corridor at Subhash Chowk with Bus Stand at Sector 10, railway station at Sector 5 and Rapid Rail at Cyber City. MRTS corridor at Subhash Chowk will interchange with Yellow Line at HUDA City Centre, providing direct connectivity to a large part of Gurugram with Delhi. It will also interchange with RRTS station at Hero Honda Chowk and Sector 22 and provide connectivity up to Sarai Kale Khan , Delhi and on Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror (SNB) side . The entire project is to be completed in 4 years time.
The metro extension will prove to be a lifeline for urban development in Gurugram by boosting connectivity/ mobility within Gurugram and outside in the NCR. New Gurgaon areas like Dwarka Expressway and its neighborhood will benefit. This in turn, will provide connectivity boost to the growth of real estate in Gurugram.
