Gurgaon real estate to get mobility boost

GMDA’s latest plan to redesign and revamp over a hundred traffic junctions in the city will provide mobility boost to Gurgaon real estate.

According to Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority’s (GMDA) plan, all the traffic junctions under its jurisdiction will be redesigned and redeveloped. In all, about 140 traffic junctions in the city will be improved. Under this Rs 4 crore development plan, footpaths, cycle tracks and green belts will be developed as per requirement. Work on Zebra crossings, kerbs and traffic signals will also be undertaken. Some of these traffic junctions will be made signal free. Kanhai Chowk will be the first such signal free junction. Already the junction improvement work is going on at the busy Huda City Centre junction by way of development of an unidirectional underpass, a flyover and two foot overbridges. Mahavir Chowk is being redeveloped with the help of an underpass and a skywalk. The work on two model traffic junctions at Bakhtawar Chowk and Mayfield Garden Chowk will be undertaken soon.

Says Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder & Chairman, Signature Global Group and Chairman, Assocham National Council on Real Estate, Housing & Urban Development, “With the speedy growth of real estate and infrastructure and rising population, there is a greater pressure on city’s traffic. This calls for proper road engineering and redevelopment of traffic junction to improve mobility in the city. GMDA’s plan to revamp city traffic junctions is a welcome move. It will make commuting within and outside the city much easier and convenient. This, in-turn will help boost real estate in the city”.
