Gurgaon administration has put an end to the overlapping role of different civic agencies in New Gurgaon. The fresh clarity on newly defined roles and responsibilities will bode well for the development of real estate in New Gurgaon.
This development follows the Haryana government’s nod to the expansion of Municipal Corporation, Gurgaon (MCG), besides formation of additional civic body- Manesar Municipal Corporation. It has now been made clear that the services that were being handled by Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will remain within its jurisdiction. As such GMDA will continue to handle road work and maintenance of storm water drains and water supply in newer areas. However, all internal roads and internal water supply lines will remain with MCG. This means that basically all distribution level services will be handled by MCG. All internal sector services including sanitation and maintenance of street lights will be under it. On the other hand, all master services will be with GMDA. All municipal processes like enforcement of building plans, property tax etc will be extended to villages which have come under extended MCG and under new Manesar Municipal Corporation. MCG will be arranging additional staff for maintenance of waterlines and other services in New Gurgaon.
Says Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder & Chairman, Signature Global and Chairman, Assocham National Council on Real Estate, Housing & Urban Development, ” The demarcation of roles and responsibilities between GMDA and MCG in developing areas of New Gurgaon, is a welcoming development. In fact bringing New Gurgaon sectors under civic body itself is a positive development that will give fresh impetus to development and growth in the new year.
