Affordable housing keeps alive hopes of early revival of realty With affordable housing continuing to be the dominant demand driver in the wake of rising sales of residential real estate across the country, the
hopes of early revival of real estate are kept alive. Market survey reveals that affordable housing segment of residential real estate in the first quarter of 2019, like last quarter, contributed close to 54% of total housing sales. As many as 70% of prospective buyers prefer properties under Rs 80 lakh. It is not just the ready-to- move affordable and mid-segment housing units are preferred by the home buyers, even there
is a growing interest for newly launched units. Market survey has established that today over 18% buyers are preferring newly launched properties. Says Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder & Chairman Signature Global, ” The pick up in residential real estate dominated by affordable housing sales , with rising interest in newly launched projects clearly establish the growing consumer sentiment and confidence of home buyers. All this has been made possible by protection of investment under RERA on one hand and sunstantial reduction in transaction cost through substantial cut in GST rate for under construction homes. And this has paved the way for revival of real estate”.
